Welcome
to Troop 59. It is my honor and pleasure to serve as Scoutmaster
of THE finest Scout troop. Our troop operates as a
'boy-led' troop with Scouts serving as Patrol Leaders, instructors and mentors to younger Scouts. We have an active program
in place to welcome our "Newbies" each year. Through
older Scout mentoring our new Scouts rapidly become acclimated to the
Scouting program and find their niche within the troop.
Summer
is perhaps the best time of year for our Scouts. We attend Ten
Mile River Camp Reservation each summer for a week of fun, adventure,
and hard work on merit badges. In addition to TMR camping we also
provide a wilderness adventure opportunity at Floodwood Mountain Scout
Reservation. Canoe treks set out for a week on the water of
camping, wilderness living and adventure.
All
of the accomplishments of our troop couldn't take place without the
valuable assistance of our Assistant Scoutmasters, Troop Committee
members and parent volunteers.
A particular thanks to parents who endow in the Scouting program the
trust to guide boys; helping them become confident, strong, trustworthy
young men.
We
believe in the foundations of Scouting and understand the importance of
leading our Scouts on the path to adulthood using the Scouting tenets:
trustworthy,
loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous,
kind,
obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and
reverent.
On
my honor I will do my best
To
do my duty to God and my country
and
to obey the Scout Law;
To
help other people at all times;
To
keep myself physically strong,
mentally
awake, and morally straight.
